An epic mountain biking adventure through the valleys and forests of Bhutan, where flowing ridgeline singletrack meets raw Himalayan descents. Eight days of All Mountain/Enduro riding take you from Bumthang's pine forests and the 3,600m Kiki-La Pass to the Druk Duro race stages, Punakha's sub-tropical trails and the iconic Madman descent. Includes a hike to the legendary Tiger's Nest Monastery, a stay at a traditional Punakha farmhouse and a relaxing hot stone bath.

Schedule

Day 1:
Arrive in Paro. Transfer to hotel, assemble bikes for trucking to Bumthang. Welcome dinner.
Day 2:
Scenic 45-minute flight to Bumthang. Warm-up loop on the valley floor. Unwind at Bumthang Mountain Lodge.
Day 3:
Ride the Bushmen trail - flowing ridgeline singletrack through pine forest.
Day 4:
Test yourself with a double shot of Kiki-La – on epic singletrack trail over a 3,600m high-altitude pass.
Day 5:
From Yotongla Pass, descend 10km of alpine singletrack to Chumey. Final night in Bumthang.
Day 6:
Fly to Paro, then drive to Thimpu for a shuttle-served day on all 4 Druk Duro race stages. Night in Thimpu.
Day 7:
Drive to Punakha via Dochula Pass. Descend the flowing Sewala trail with big valley views and a rocky finale. Stay at a traditional Punakha farmhouse.
Day 8:
Full day on the Limukha trail - technical, natural singletrack through sub-tropical forest. Finish at Punakha Dzong and cool off in the river.
Day 9:
En route to Thimpu, ride Bhutan’s iconic enduro descent, the Madman trail – steep, raw and demanding. Final night in Thimpu.
Day 10:
Hike to the legendary Tiger’s Nest Monastery, perched 900m above Paro Valley. Celebration dinner in Paro.
Day 11:
Depart Bhutan!

Trip Details

What this means:

Terrain – On mellow trails and at a steady pace, you feel comfortable tackling singletrack that may include tight trees, muddy sections, loose rocks, and sand.

Obstacles – You can confidently roll over small features (a few inches high) such as roots, rocks, and minor drops, but you generally keep both wheels on the ground.

Bike Parks – If you’ve been to a bike park, you handle Green and Blue trails with ease and are willing to try Red trails. You roll obstacles smoothly but still prefer to keep both wheels on the ground.

Bike Skills – You’re confident applying these fundamental bike handling techniques on a variety of singletrack:

Shifting – You look ahead and shift in response to the terrain.
Descending – You descend confidently in a standing position, holding the pedals level and maintaining balance.
Speed Control and Braking – You use momentum to climb rolling terrain and are comfortable using both your front and back brakes when required.

Kinley Dorji

Operator & Lead Guide | Bhutan

Kinley is the founder of Tall Pines, where he serves as both director and lead guide. Inspired by the warmth and hospitality he experienced while living in Ohio, USA, he set out to bring that same spirit of welcome to the mountains of Bhutan. Guiding since 2004, he founded Tall Pines in 2014. While he enjoys every kind of two-wheeled adventure, his heart lies in building and riding backcountry trails across central and western Bhutan, routes he has personally designed and constructed. Kinley became a guide to share his deep, native love for the Himalayas. For him, the mountains and rivers aren't a backdrop, they're home. He is a certified fly fishing instructor, holds Whitewater Rescue Training (WRT) and Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certifications, and has served as a trail advisor for the Trans Bhutan Trail. With more than two decades of guiding experience, Kinley doesn't just organise trips, he lives them.

Binesh Thapa

After many years working as a bike technician and trail builder, Binesh decided it was time to take a more personal path, guiding riders through the landscapes he knows and loves. With over seven years of experience as a mountain biking guide in Bhutan, he has led guests from around the world past ancient monasteries, through remote villages, and along dramatic mountain trails. For Binesh, biking has never been just a sport, it's a way to connect with nature, culture, and people. Whether you're an experienced rider chasing a challenge or simply here to soak in the beauty, he'll make sure your journey through Bhutan is smooth, safe, and unforgettable.
